My latest amp that I snagged. I believe it was built in the mid to late 80s. After replacing the power tubes I gave it a good run through. It needs a little TLC on some different parts of the amp. I gave it a good run through after I got to see what this amp was capable of. There are some interesting ideas that were put into the power section such as the “RMS” and “Governor” controls. After looking at the schematic, the Governor control looks to act something like a PPIMV (Post Phase Inverter Master Volume). As for the RMS control, I am not too sure what its doing in the circuit. I notice a small difference to in the sound of the amp but nothing major, seems to make it a little more brittle sounding.

The amp is in really nice condition considering its age. Looks as though it was stored away in a closet and forgotten about. I pulled the chassis out to see what options I might have for tweaking the amp to a more modern sounding high gain amplifier. As you can see there is plenty of room for replacing the stock preamp board for something a long the lines of a turret board.
